Day 87...Nice nice baby - 21st September

Its started: A mix of over stimulation, with understimulation (no TV) has created an interesting effect of us having the most epic dreams each night. It has happened in patches throughout the trip, but for some reason in Nice our brains are going crazy while we sleep.

We slept in today again, and then had a relaxing day at the beach. We'd spoken to some Aussies on the train yesterday about Cannes and decided we couldn't be bothered. Apart from the festival that wasn't on at the moment, the town is full of souvenier and sex shops. (I had read up on that too). And St Tropez was a train + bus ride away, over 2 hours each way, so we buggered that off as well. So we chilled in Nice.

Instead of lying on the pebbles today, we rented a deck chair each and an umbrella. It was damn pricty but we relaxed on them all day till late afternoon. We read, swam, read and swam. The water was chilly to get into, but warmed up once you were in. It was funny and endearing to see the fat old ladies hobbling down to the beach over the pebbles, holding their skinny husbans hands.

There was one dirty incident: we'd hired deck chairs so we could do whatever we wanted with them right? It was part of a hotel and we read the menu for lunch and it was pricey. So i walked all the way into Vieux Nice and got us some crusty baguettes but when I got back - we weren't allowd to eat them there. Fuckers. So we ate like rejects in the park and grumbled about it. But the day was too sunny and nice to be mad long, and we relaxed till late arvo.

Later on we walked back and showered, devouring more wine and cheese in our apartment. We've got our IRiver, and bought a cheap pair of speakers, so we've been enjoying music in our apartment. Then we wandered sowly down into Vieux Nice for more cheap cocktails and ate a 3 course menue which wasn't too crash hot. Polished off some more wine and headed home.
