Day 6...(Transit Day) Planes, Trains and Automobiles - 2nd July
You gotta love the service industry in this country. For a country that survives on its tips, you think that people would actually do a good job yes? Well, no. They are crap.
The shuttle bus recommended that it pick us up at 8:45am for an 111:15am flight. We said, no way, fuck you very much but we don't trust you so pick us up at 7:30am (not exactly like that but I think it sounds more colourful that way).
The airport system was so bad that we only sort of made it in time (cracking jokes the whole time with this other family as we watched the check-in staff talk to each other, concentrate really hard on the computer then go on a break, all managing to not look at the line of people waiting patiently for them to get their act together). It then didn't matter that we only made it on time as our flight was delayed by 1 1/2 hours.
THEN! When we landed in Vegas, we waited forever and a day to get our bags, then were hustled into a shuttle line where we waited in the heat for another forever and a day. It took us (no joke) and hour and a half to get OUT of the airport! Even though we had no place to be, we were kind of antsy coz we wanted to catch the Formula One race. It was on at 2. You think a 45 minute flight from LA to Vegas leaving at 11:15am would give us time yes? Well, no. So from 7am to 4pm we were in transit, and felt like smelly armpits.
The line to Circus Circus took another 45mins. The hotel is a lot more divey than the Luxor which I stayed in last, but I had expected that as I had been to Circus Circus before. However I love the people that stay there, they are so weird. And I feel like I'm in Fear and Loathing the movie when I'm there. Plus, compared th the LA dive at the same price, its absolute luxury. You can walk around the bed - yay! And there is even a lounge chair and a desk, and a big bathroom. We've got some great views over the strip, we can see the Riviera and stuff. Woo hoo!
We had a shower then headed down to the Stratosphere Hotel which is quite close to us. We had a greattime, having a martini each at the Top of the World Bar which was 107 stories up. We watched the sun go down and the lights come on all the way up the Strip it was unbelievable! Got a bit pissy. (We also felt a bit worried coz the whole tower rumbled whenever the roller coaster above us went around) Hmmm.
Then we ate some shit pizza and tried to get some cheap drinks. I remembered I broke even playing 50cent roulette last time I was here and got heaps of free drinks. So we tried the same. We got 4 Long Island Iced Teas each for $1 tips, but lost about $20 bucks in gambling to get them! Still, $5 a cocktail isn't too bad. Then we went to Wynn Casino to try to get into a nightclub that is like, "so hot right now" but the line was huge and cover charges phenomenal so we went to bed around 1am.
