Day 36...lost undies! - 1st August

Drove all the way back to Leamington Spa as Nathan left my undie bag in the laundromat. (he says I didn't grab it but thats not up for negotiation.) We dropped Rattles off at the train station there as he was heading to London then on to Finland.

We then headed north (again) to Nottingham. Nathan was a little unwell and slept so I drove us there. It was a really cute and tidy little town - well quite large actually but had a small town feel to it. We had a little walk around before driving up to Sherwood forest. Or Sherwood small clump of trees on a medium strip if you want to be honest! Sherwood forest was actually quite far from Nottingham, particularly if you consider they had to do it on horseback in the Robin Hood days. (Or maybe the forest was closer to town, I don't know).

We happened to turn up on the day that Robin Hood has been officially declared a national icon. Therefore there was a big brou-ha-ha there with kids and grannies and cars everywhere. So we found another small patch nearby (sherwood forest is in a few patches now, thats about it, not really a forest at all!). We mucked around there for a bit and 'hey nonny nonny'ed it for a while. (There's going to be some odd photos when we get back. It started in London at the Tower of London when I asked Kristin to give me a 'hey nonny nonny' and she swung her arms around. So we have been keeping with that tradition since!)

I should really have learnt my lesson from the other night. I grabbed an innocent looking plant to use as a bow and arrow - and the nasty critter stung me! Man, the outdoors are dangerous here. Watch out for the plants!

We pushed on through all the way up to Kingston-Upon-Hull where I was born. It felt soooooo weird seeing those traffic signs for it. After all my life talking about it and thinking about how I had to go some day - here I was! I expected Hull to be a dive, and it was, but it was a better hole than I expected. Instead of the port with horrible 60's buildings that I thought, it was industrial in an old-school way. It reminded me of London in the Oliver days(well the movie anyway), which gave it a bit of charm actually. We found a cute B&B and tucked in for the night as it was rainy and cosy.
