Day 94...Florence mcpippin - 28th September

We didn't want to queue for hours, so we booked our tickets for the Galleria dell'Accademia for tomorrow which was the soonest we could get. The Uffizi gallery was booked out until 2 days after that, and we won't be here by then! I'd have liked to have seen it. Da Vinci's unfinished 'adoration of the magi' is in there. We decided to try and queue at that one later in the arvo perhaps.

So we spent this morning on the Internet getting some stuf done. Then we went into the Duomo to see some more fervent piety. Next door to it was the musuem where we saw lots of religious art - including Michelangelo's unfinished Pieta. He was getting to be almost done when part of the arm broke off. Ain't that a bitch? So he had to start all over. We also saw a sculpture of Mary by Donatello that I have recognised from somwehere. We also saw Brunelleschi's death mask - the guy who did the hot poker up the ass painting in the dome we saw yesterday.

After that we wandered the streets of florence and happened upon the Uffizi gallery by chance. The square had some cool sculptures, including a fake David which we were sure must confuse the yankee tourists. Haha. Our favourite was a sculpture of a chick getting decapitated and her neck had stuff coming out of it. The Uffizi gallery itself was closing in 2 hours time, so we decided to queue. Until we discovered that the queue was 2 hours long! So forget it.

THe afternoon was pleasant, the sky turning pinks and greys with the sunset. ALong the river, the water reflected the sky making it very pretty. There was a cool bridge that had little shops and buildings all over it. It was near our hotel, so we went back and read on our private balcony for a while.

As it got to night we walked over the river into another part of florence to find a restaurant we had read about. The food was ok, not as good as last night. I had rabbit again coz it tastes so darn good.
