Day 103...Amalfi Coast - 7th October

Had an omlette in the town square, then left or bags with the guy who organized our room (our room didn’t have a hotel reception or anything). Then for 5 euro (a hell of a lot cheaper than Nice) we got an umbrella, two deckchairs, and two towels. Then we promptly spent the day swimming, reading and sunbaking. We had only meant to be a while, but stayed until 3pm! It was really warm and the water was so clear you could see the bottom.

At 3, we reluctantly had a cold rinse, got dressed and collected our car. We planned to drive as far as we could to Brindisi as our ferry was booked for tomorrow arvo (we booked it in Rome). The rest of the Amalfi coast was finished quite quickly, then we knifed inland through very isolated Italian country. It was very barren land, with not many towns at all. (However there was one cool one up on a hill at one point). When we stopped for petrol, we were served by a degenerate mom and pop couple, located in the dust of nowhere. Surprising ourselves, we actually reached Brindisi that night! It took us forever and a day to find accommodation, and the prices were all ridiculous. Salty and tired, we just gave up and picked one where we could park the car. As it was late, we had a quick shower and had our last Italian meal at a really cute and busy place filled with locals. Then watched some TV (only thing in English we have been able to watch for months is CNN. That’s if we have a TV in the room). Then to sleep!
